Steelman's story began with one man's dream. Kusumakar Shivram Salgaonkar arrived in Mumbai from his village with big ambitions and a determination to build something meaningful. Starting from humble beginnings in a cupboard shop, he spent nearly two decades learning the craft of metal furniture understanding customers, mastering the trade, and building his reputation one piece at a time.
In 1960, guided by the belief that hard work always pays off, he took a bold step and established Steelman. His vision was simple but powerful: build products that are durable, reliable, and made with honesty. Over 65 years later, that founding principle still drives every piece of furniture that leaves our workshop from compact Mumbai apartments to large corporate offices, hospitals, and schools across the city.
